Artists’ Statement

Partner designers, Kerry Feiman and Rachel Hanson had been making jewelry for themselves and friends for several years. It was their discovery of Milagros and their friendship that inspired them to turn their passion for jewelry into a career. Kerry comes from a craftsman background and has incorporated these architectural influences into her designs, invoking feelings of home and comfort in her work. Rachel comes from a long line of artisans and art teachers. It was her mother’s collection of Milagros, passed on to Rachel, which began her intrigue and desire to incorporate these powerful symbols into her work.

Kerry enjoys creating a classic look in her pieces, jewelry that has no age boundaries. Inspiration comes form the stones themselves, their color or often the way they feel against your skin. The Milagros set the tone for the piece, they always inspire its name and often help to guide color selection and weight. "I like jewelry that can be worn with a t-shirt by day and look just as stunning with a simple dress in the evening."

Rachel finds inspiration for her jewelry designs in the world and in the Milagros. The sea, the night and Kerry’s dog, have all been starting points for unique pieces of jewelry. Rachel looks to put a twist on the ordinary to create jewelry pieces that speak to the wearer. The Milagro can be a private wish or desire of the wearer, or a public statement. Whatever the purpose, Rachel hopes that those who choose Milagro jewelry find joy and whimsy in their individual work of art.
